55 fiction - Escape

He ran, blood pulsating in his veins. “No no no, I won’t go back to that hellhole!” The world was a blur. Muffled sounds of padded feet drew closer. They were at his ankles. A bolt of shooting pain as the canines dug into his spine and his body fell, limp.

A growl.

SNAP!

Darkness.

Whoa. I've been meaning to try my hand at 55 fiction for a while now. Was that really 55 words? That's all you get? I tip my hat to you, sir, for telling a story in that small space!

In 55 words, you made me cringe!

Yep, 55 words is all you get..guess that's where the fun is, telling a tale in so few words. That was my first attempt at it. Hope I did justice to it :)

@ One Sassy Girl

Thank you so much! I marvel at the power of words in weaving imagination into reality.
It was an honour making you cringe :)

@ Insignia

Give it a shot. You tell some fascinating tales yourself.

@ ladytruth

Whoa! Now that you mention it, it reads more exciting than what I'd imagined!
P.S. The world is full of Supernatural followers it seems. So many of my friends are crazy for it...well, including me, but I missed the last season completely :(

@ Deepika

Give it a shot. It's definitely worth it. And who knows, those 55 words may grow into a 55 chapter novel right before your eyes.

@ Ice Maiden

Hmm...try doing one yourself Annie, it's challenging but leaves a lot to the interpretation of the reader.
But personally, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm writing a piece of fiction myself...but pretty much at a block for a long time.
